Investigations on Improving the Compressive Strength of Sand Column with Cement Grout and Chemical Admixture

Grouting is one of the most commonly adopted technique for soil improvement and strengthening. Adding super plasticizers, accelerators, antifreezes, air entraining agent improves performance cement grout. The grout while injecting in sand column mainly depends on its fluidity property. Keeping it mind about water ratio, strength studied two sets experiments by with only another set added plasticizers varying ratios. Strength parameters like angle internal friction cohesion were obtained be direct shear test unconfined compressive specimens content. An increase 15.2kPa to 60.33 kPa was observed value 10% content 13.8 kpa 47.2kPa 20% decreased from 360 160 whereas 300 100 A series conducted grouted different ratios as 1.5, 2.0 2.5. Another repeated adding 2%super plasticizer Sulphonated Melamine Formaldehyde (SMF). experiment results revealed that at lower ratio higher observed. It also increases curing period.
